Uglies p.122-130

                   She has found David! There was no more metal and she had to find a place to land so she found a cave. Inside was her beloved David. She couldn't believe that he made it out of the Smoke, or what used to be the Smoke, without being captured. He told her he was still outside when the Specials came so he found his board and made a run for it. He also said that they had to go back to the Smoke. He said there was something there he had to get in order to survive. Tally trusts him, but she can't tell him that she brought the Specials there. She is heartbroken and cries the whole night while David is fast asleep.
