The Hunger Games p.261-266

                 Cato has come, and he is madder than ever. He is determined to win. As soon as Katniss shoots the first arrow, she realizes something is off. He didn't seem scared at all. It was like he knew he was going to live. He knew he wasn't going to die. Katniss knew something was off, but it wasn't until later that she realized that he had some kind of sheild keeping him from being harmed from feet all the way to the neck. Katniss realized if she was to kill him, it would have to be right through the head, and getting through that with an arrow would be tough. She doesn't know what to do!

The Hunger Games p.252-260

                 Thresh is dead. Katniss thinks it is all her fault. Cato killed him. Katniss didn't know how bloody the fight got, but when she saw Thresh's body fly through the air, there wasn't a spot on him that wasn't covered in blood. It is now their turn. Cato is in it to win it and he isn't stopping now. He is going to come searching for them. Katniss is also worried about what was in his bag. She knows whatever it is, it will have something to do with his blood lust and eagerness to win the games. After talking it over with Peeta, they decided that when Cato came, they would fight him off. Two against one is better than one against two. Katniss still can not believe that she made it this far. She thought she would be dead long ago and Peeta would have won, killing Cato. Now, however, that the rules had changed, she is happy to be with Peeta. She knows if she beats Cato, she would live. However, if she were to die when he came, she would die for her little sister Primrose. She helped Prim in times of need and she wasn't going to stop now. She will go home to Primrose. She must go home!

The Hunger Games p.246-251

                In the book, Katniss has made it back to the cave. She notices Peeta is already awake. He is gathering berries, and separating them from posionus to non poisonus. She asks him why he is doing so, and he says so he can rub the poisionus ones along the outside of their cave, that way if anyone sneaks around, they are dead meat. However, Katniss is confused when 5 hours later she sees Foxface's body being lifted up into the air. Katniss then realized that that was why they were missing food. Foxface had came and stolen theirs. However, Foxface chose the wrong berries, and there goes Foxface. Now all Katniss thinks is 1 down 2 to go.  

The Hunger Games p.226-245

               Katniss slowly, but surely, nurses Peeta back to health. Not full health, but healthy enough so he can run and use a knife. Peeta must still wear his tournaquete, for they fear he may start bleeding again. Katniss and Peeta know the Capitol will plan something soon, they just aren't sure what. Soon enough, they find out. They are going to have a "feast" at the Cornucopia. At the Cornucopia at precisly 12 o' clock, there will be a brown bag containing what each competitor needs most. The bags would be gone at 1 o' clock sharp. Peeta needs more medicine, and Katniss is running out of arrows. Peeta begs her not to go, so she tells him she wont. Katniss has a plan though, in order to keep Peeta from knowing. She is going to crush one of the sleeping pills, and rub the powder on the remaining berries. She then, willingly, gives them to Peeta, saying he deserves them. Peeta takes them greatfully, but it is too late before he notices what she had done. Peeta tells her to go when he finally falls asleep, and be back when he wakes. Katniss is almost positive that she wont. She does, however, make it to the Cornucopia alive, at 11:55. There is nothing there yet. At percisly 12:00, Katniss sees Foxface come out of the bushes, take her bag, and run back. There was something about Foxface that was mistirious, like you could forget she was even in the arena. Katniss doesn't want to be the first one out, because she knows she will get shot. Cato is the first one to come out. Katniss steps out at the same time. Cato is on her right away, and before she knows it, she is laying on the ground with a knife at her throat. Cato was just about to kill her when a sudden force hit Cato, not fataly, in the head. She sees Thrash, the other competator from District 8 (other than Rue). He tells her it will not be happening again, grabs his bag and runs. Katniss does the same with hers and Peeta's.        She runs and runs, until she can run no more. She turns around and sees Cato in the distance, looking for Thrash. Cato doesn't care about her anymore, his only pray right now is Thrash. Katniss feels awful. She knows that Thrash will be dead soon, and it is all her fault. She wishes she could have just died right there and then. Cato had a knife to her throat, why didn't she die? She is alive because the people in District 8 care about others more than themselves. For that, Katniss is extremely greatful. She then runs to Peeta, for she knows she is late

The Hunger Games p. 217-225

                          The novel has now gone haywire. The announcer of the games just announced that if you and your partner in the games is still alive, you can both survive. That ment Peeta can be with Katniss again!! However, that also means that Clove and Cato can be together. Katniss knows people will be out on the hunt for Peeta and herself, so they can kill them both before they can meet eachother. But, Katniss doesn't know where and how they will meet. She must go searching. Eventually, Katniss must settle for the night. There were no deaths that night so she knew Peeta was ok. Not long after she woke up in the morning, she heard a scream, Peeta's scream. Katniss ran to where she heard the scream from, which wasn't that far away. She saw Clove standing above Peeta with a knife in her hand. Luckily, Katniss was there and shot an arrow straight through her heart. She took Peeta and ran. He had a fatal wound slashed through his leg. She could hear Cato crying for her not to die. She eventually did, and Cato was mad. Katniss could hear his scream from miles away. She knew he would come looking for her and Peeta. It started to rain. Katniss saw a small opening in a rock and ran for it. She saw it was bigger on the inside than on the outside. Katniss knew she could easily camoflauge it, so before she fell asleep, she took some leaves and mud and covered the hole. She knew it was a sloppy job, but she would fix it in the morning. In the night, it looked just like part of the rock. She was satisfied. She then rushed inside to meet Peeta's needs. He was bleeding, a lot. She took an arrow and made it a tournocate for his leg. She looked outside and screamed, "Help Us!!" All of a sudden, a white parachute fell on her shoulder. It was the right medicine Peeta needed, and a bottle of sleeping pills. The sleeping pills made you fall directly into a rem sleep for four hours then you wake up, feeling refreshed. She first gave Peeta the medicine, then gave him a sleeping pill. She made sure he was ok, gave him a kiss, than took one herself. 

The Hunger Games 212-216

                  Katniss's ears are ringing, she cant hear a thing other than her ears. She has to hide before the others notice. She manages to crawl behind a bush and under some shrub, unable to be seen. She looks up and sees a few people talking, yelling maybe. Katniss cannot hear so she cant tell. She is starting to hear a few things out of her left ear, but her right ear just isn't working. Katniss manages to run away before anyone notices, with no hearing in her right ear.

The Hunger Games p.206-212

              In this book, Katniss is now by herself. She knows without Rue, she will have to find the place where the Elites are putting their supplies. She looks and looks and finds herself at the Cornucopia.She then sees Foxface run through in a weird mannor. She seems to be hopping. She then relizes that the entire area is surrounded with string bombs. Foxface, however, manages to sneak around them long enough to get the food. Katniss knows no other way then memorize Foxface's path. She tries to do so unsuccessfully. She ends up getting blown up herself!
